Topic 1: Paying Deceased Employees

Have you ever had an employee pass away and you didn't know what to do or you paid them as if they were still employed with your organization?  During this session you will find out how to build a process when something like this happens and also understand the Federal and State rules for these types of payments.  

Topic 2: Multi-State Payroll: Non-Tax Challenges

Payroll professionals navigate a wide range of nontax compliance requirements when their organizations employ people across multiple states.  This session breaks down the essential information needed to stay aligned with state-specific employment rules, from wage and hour obligations to leave laws and reporting requirements.  Attendees will gain a clear understanding of the regulatory differences that shape multistate payroll operations, giving them the insight needed to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all jurisdictions.

Speaker 1:

Linda Dailey has been in the payroll profession for over 30 years, currently working for Bowman Consulting in Reston, VA as the Payroll Mgr. Linda received her CPP designation in the spring of 2000. Linda has served in many different positions for WMAC,  CTWV and VSPC.  In her Payroll Org National roles Linda has served as a Board of Advisor, Co-Chair of the Strategic Leadership Task Force Government Public Sector subcommittee and is Chair of the Nominations and Elections committee for Payroll Org.  Linda has been a member the National Speakers Bureau. In 2019 Linda was awarded with APA’s Meritorious Award and in 2017 Linda was awarded the VA Statewide Payroll Professional of the Year.  Linda loves what she does in Payroll and enjoys giving back by helping other payroll professionals study for the certification exam and succeed in their career. 

Speaker 2:

Charlotte N. Hodges, CPP, is the Senior Payroll Manager for ECS Federal, LLC, a leading provider of solutions in science, engineering, and advanced technologies including cloud, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), data, and enterprise transformation solutions.

In January 2008 Charlotte joined the Bloomberg Tax as a Payroll Advisory Board member.  She is a member of PayrollOrg's Ask An Expert and serves on the Strategic Payroll Leadership Task Force (SPLTF) Best Practices Subcommittee, the Government Relations Task Force (GRTF)  Federal Issues Subcommittee, the Government Relations Task Force (GRTF) State and Local Topics Subcommittee, the National Speaker’s Bureau, and currently serves on PayrollOrg's Board of Directors as a Vice President.  Charlotte was awarded the APA Meritorious Service Award in 2020.  Charlotte is a member of the Hampton Roads Chapter of PayrollOrg and the Washington Metropolitan Area Chapter of PayrollOrg (WMAC) where she currently serves as Treasurer.
