Our chapter will be participating in a volunteer opportunity at Food and Friends on Saturday February 18 from 8:45am to 12pm.  Our group will be helping with food prep and packaging.  Join us to help support our community!

Food & Friends is the only community-based organization in the D.C. region providing home-delivered medically tailored meals and medical nutrition therapy to our neighbors living with cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other serious illnesses.

Led by Reverned Carla Gorrell in 1988, local community leaders were in search of ways to support meal delivery for people with AIDS.  In 1989, Food & Friends was incorporated and their reach began to expand outside to people with other medical needs.  This organization has grown immensely and now supports hundreds volunteers delivering meals to clients.  Food & Friends served its 20 millionth meal inn 2016.  The organization has had trouble making it through COVID due to decrease in the number of volunteers allowed.
