Meeting Time: 8:30am - 11:30am

Topic: Payroll Scams
"Whether it is Phishing, Spoofing or embezzlement of funds within Payroll, there are people out there trying to benefit from deceitful acts. In this session, you will take away known scam methods, discuss examples where people got caught and how they were identified, and be able to compare auditing practices within your company. Ultimately you will have a better idea of knowing if there are areas of risk and ways to ensure compliance."
Speaker: Levi Meeske
Levi G. Meeske, CPP
Payroll Tax Consultant
Voya Financial

In September 2001, Levi Meeske was hired into the world of payroll. Equipped with a Bachelors
of Science in Mathematics & Computer Science from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont,
Nebraska and a desire to learn, he was now being asked paycheck questions that he had
previously inquired about himself. However, now he needed to be able to intelligently and
accurately respond with answers. In time, he joined that APA Atlanta Chapter where he has
held offices of President, Government Liaison Office, chair of the Georgia Statewide
conference, and has taught multiple years at the CPP/FPC Study Groups after receiving his CPP
in 2007.
Moving up through the ranks of payroll from clerk to administrator to supervisor to manager,
Levi has worked in varying industries such as manufacturing, hospitality and healthcare
industries. Also, he works on increasing and bringing compliance, process efficiency, technology
utilization and documentation up to standards.
Finally, Levi is also part of the APA’s National Speaker’s Bureau, and the CPP Certification Board.
He has also been a part of PAYTECH’s Board of Contributing Writers, and past regional Board of
Advisors. Other committees have included the Emerging Technologies Subcommittee & Best
Practices of the Strategic Payroll Leadership Task Force (SPLTF), the MyRA Subcommittee of the
Government Relations Task Force (GRTF) the Social Networking Committee, and the Hotline
Referral Service. He has also taught PayTrain Mastery at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
Personally, he enjoys puzzles, coin collecting, cruising the Caribbean on vacations and spending
time with his loving family.
