Topic: Deceased Employee Payments
In this session, we will review an unfortunate event that every payroll professional will have to face at some point in their career. This session will review what happens when you owe wages to a deceased employee, how to pay it and when and who you can make the payment too. You will understand how to build your process and who will need to be part of the team. We will help you understand how to handle the news that one of your employees has passed away. This presentation will also help you understand why Payroll will need to work with HR, Benefits, and Accounts Payable and what part each of these teams plays in the process.

Speaker: Linda Dailey, CPP
Linda Dailey has been in the payroll profession for 25 years, currently working for Fairfax County Government as Payroll Compliance Supervisor. Linda received her CPP designation in the spring of 2000. Linda is involved in the Washington Metropolitan Area Chapter of the APA and currently serves on their board as the Education Co-Chair. Linda also works with the Virginia Statewide Payroll Conference and currently serves as its President-Elect. She is also a member of the Charlestown West Virginia Chapter of the APA. For APA National, Linda serves several roles including the Certification Board and the National Speakers Bureau. She taught the Payroll Professional Learning Series/Pay Train courses at George Mason University for over 8 years. Linda is very dedicated to helping payroll professional’s advance in their careers, with emphasis on helping other payroll professionals study for their CPP and FPC exam.
